The Patuas of Naya share their stories through singing and painted scrolls.
In the past, they used to travel from village to village singing their pictures. Nowadays, new dynamics are emerging.
I met the Patuas working on an UNESCO project in partnership with the NGO Banglanatak and the International Institute for Culture, Tourism and Development.
I had the opportunity to focus my MA dissertation on the community of Patuas and reflect on new ways to safeguard intangible cultural heritage, empower artists and create meaningful connections between people.
